In what is thought to be the most expensive residential real estate sale in Chicago history, a suburban Chicago-based businessman has purchased the penthouse at Donald’s Trump’s hotel for over $17 million, and he paid in cash.

The palatial 14,260 square foot space, located on the 89th floor is still not finished. The buyer will need to spend another $15 million to finish the space.

“If there ever was a bird’s-eye view of Chicago, I think this place is it,” he buyer says.

The residence is located at what is officially called Trump International Hotel & Tower located at 401 N. Wabash,which is one of the tallest residential properties in the world. It was first listed for sale at $32 million. The buyer says that was simply a reference point for negotiations, but he and his spouse will have spent nearly that much by the time they are done decorating their new home.
The living room at in this unit is the size of some small homes clocking in at 1,296 square feet.
The master bedroom is a massive 1,122 square feet.

It also comes with five fireplaces,  a media room,, a massive exercise room, study and laundry room.
Property taxes are not yet determined, and the buyer will have to budget for a $12,150 monthly carrying charges.

The buyer can also claim Bulls superstar Derrick Rose as a neighbor. He bought a 3 bedroom condo five floors below for a reported $2.8 million. The Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane also has a unit at Trump.
